so you may recall that last year, the obama administration rolled out something called the "deferred action for childhood arrivals." and that allows people to stay for up to two years if they were brought here under 16 years old if they're in high school or have completed high school, if they're in the military or have completed military service and no criminal records. now, what the new law in california says is that the permits that are going to be issued by the federal government under this program will be be able to be used to get driver's licenses. so certain people again if you meet certain criteria will be able to get those licenses. another law that's taking effect is texting law. this new law says that anybody who is texting while driving is totally fine and legal as long as they're not using their hands. so some phones have these voice actvated systems that allow you to voice text. that's going to be okay under the new law. this is a bit controversial because there aren't any studies that say this is any safer than the hands -- >> you still need the finger to hit the voice. >> but
